Our Story
Life is Sweet is a dedicated gluten free bakery and café located in charming downtown Danville, California. San Ramon Valley High School graduate and Bay Area native Julie Krause, attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, and immediately went to work in a small local bakery specializing in wedding and custom cakes. After 9 years of perfecting her skills, she returns to Danville to fulfill her life long dream of owning her own Bakery.
Julie's stepmother Susan Hart, was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2013 and was forced to immediately change to an all gluten free diet. Both Julie and Kevin (Susan's husband) watched Susan struggle with being able to eat out while protecting her health. It became apparent there is a lack of options for people who either want or need to eat gluten free.
Together we bring you Life is Sweet Bakery and Café, serving gluten free breakfast, lunch, and assorted baked goods. In addition we have wedding and custom cakes, all of which are also Gluten free.
Early Mornings
Julie and our Chef start work before the sun rises each day to ensure that every item is as fresh as possible before it gets to you. The warm smell of baking often escapes from the kitchen into the café before we've even opened. We're dedicated to being entirely Gluten free. Start your day with several breakfast menu options or just a quick warm muffin, and a latte.
Cozy Space to Meet with Friends
Whether you prefer sitting inside or on our patio we know you will find a comfortable place for a quite meal or to meet with friends or even business meeting. Our cafe has great coffee, free wifi and plenty of outlets!
